To celebrate, in art lessons this week, pupils have been learning about Henri Matisse. Henri was a lifelong sufferer of anxiety and depression. Anxiety & depression aren’t often thought about when we think about neurodiversity however, they are historically considered neurodivergent conditions that affect millions of people every day. Later in life, Henri battled cancer and found himself wheelchair bound and unable to paint his master pieces that he had previously painted in oils and acrylics . He resorted to cutting out coloured card and arranged them into wonderful collages. Pupils from Years 7, 8 & 9 had a go at creating their on Henri Matisse inspired collages.
