Welcome to Belmont School
We believe every child deserves the chance to succeed. Many of our pupils join us having faced challenges in previous school settings. Our role is to provide them with a fresh start – helping them to build confidence, develop positive relationships, and rediscover a love of learning.
We create a nurturing but structured environment where high expectations, clear boundaries and a strong focus on rewards help pupils grow in self-belief, improve their behaviour, and achieve academically and socially. Alongside this, pupils benefit from access to our on-site clinical and therapeutic specialists, who provide tailored support to meet their individual needs and promote long-term personal development.
Mission Statement
At Belmont School, we provide a fresh start for every pupil in a safe, caring, and trauma-informed environment. Through listening, nurturing relationships, and tailored support, we empower young people to develop, learn, and prepare for a successful adult life.
Aims & Values
B – Belief in a Fresh Start
We believe every pupil deserves a fresh start. We are committed to recognising their potential and supporting them to develop confidence, resilience, and a positive future.
E – Empathy and Emotional Safety
We provide a trauma-informed and emotionally safe environment where empathy shapes our practice, and where the importance of a relationships-first approach is recognised and prioritised.
L – Listening to Every Voice
As a listening school, we ensure that pupils, families, and staff are heard, understood, and actively involved, creating the conditions for our pupils to thrive.
M – Mental Health and Wellbeing First
We place safeguarding, wellbeing, and mental health at the heart of all we do, recognising that emotional security is fundamental to learning.
O – Opportunity to develop
We provide meaningful, individualised opportunities for academic, social, and personal development, equipping pupils for adulthood and enabling them to make a positive contribution to society.
N – Nurture through Relationships
We cultivate strong, consistent, and caring relationships that foster trust, connection, and belonging across the entire school community, and we are committed to restoring relationships should they become strained.
T – Trauma-Informed Practice
We embed trauma-informed principles in all aspects of school life, responding with understanding rather than punishment, and use Connect, Co-Regulate, and Co-Reflect to help pupils heal, learn, and thrive.
Our Expectations of Pupils
Ready – prepared for learning by arriving on time, bringing the right equipment, and showing a positive attitude to lessons.
Respectful – towards staff, peers, the school environment, and the wider community, demonstrating kindness, cooperation, and good manners.
Safe – making choices that protect their own wellbeing and that of others, following rules designed to keep everyone secure.
