Home News & Events Belmont Primary – Forest School: Squirrel Appreciation Week
This week at Belmont Primary, pupils took part in a special Forest School focus on squirrels, in recognition of Squirrel Appreciation Day.
Pupils explored and gathered information about both Red and Grey Squirrels, learning about their differences and discussing the local decline of Red Squirrels and the reasons behind this within our area.
Learning was brought to life through a range of engaging, hands-on activities, including:
These sessions supported pupils’ understanding of local wildlife while promoting curiosity, creativity and outdoor learning.
Trish Dobbs, Forest School Lead, said:
“Forest School gives our children the opportunity to connect with nature in a meaningful way. Learning about squirrels through play, exploration and creativity has really captured the pupils’ interest and helped them develop a deeper understanding of the wildlife in our local community.”
Well done to all pupils and staff involved for another engaging and enriching Forest School experience at Belmont Primary.
