We are delighted to announce that Belmont will be launching the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) programme next week, offering pupils in Years 9–11 an exciting opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence and take on new challenges.
The award encourages young people to develop independence, resilience, teamwork and a sense of achievement. Pupils will need to commit to a minimum of one hour each week, although many of the activities and skills they are already developing through enrichment and option subjects may contribute towards their award.
The programme will be coordinated by Chris F, Mark B and colleagues, with the overall experience culminating in an exciting two-day expedition, including one overnight stay, in Summer 2027.
There is also an additional exciting opportunity for participants. Pupils enrolled on the DofE programme will be able to apply to attend the OFG-funded ski trip to the Italian Alps in March 2027. Further information about this opportunity will be shared in the coming weeks.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our young people to challenge themselves, discover new interests and develop valuable skills that will support them well beyond their time at Belmont.
How to get involved
Pupils interested in taking part can register directly with a member of the coordinating team or email their names to Mark B or Chris F.
The deadline for registering interest is Monday 9th November at 4.00pm.
We would encourage all eligible pupils to consider getting involved. This promises to be a fantastic experience and an opportunity to create some lasting memories!
