Leadership Announcement – Head of Primary

I am delighted to share the news that Nicola Haworth has been appointed as Head of Primary at Belmont, with effect from September 2026.

Following a highly competitive selection process, Nicola was unanimously appointed by the interview panel. Her passion for Belmont, commitment to our children and families, and clear vision for the future of our Primary provision were evident throughout.

Many families will already know Nicola through her role as Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo, a position she has held since joining Belmont in January 2022. During this time, she has played a pivotal role in the continued development of the school, leading improvements in teaching and learning, curriculum development, assessment, inclusion and the overall quality of education.

Earlier this year, following the senior leadership team restructure, Nicola took on the additional role of Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum), leading a comprehensive review of the secondary curriculum. Her work has helped ensure that all pupils benefit from ambitious, engaging and meaningful learning opportunities tailored to their individual needs and aspirations.

Nicola brings more than 20 years of experience in education and has dedicated her career to supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential. As a highly experienced SENDCo, she has extensive expertise in supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs and has been instrumental in strengthening Belmont’s inclusive approach to education.

Before joining Belmont, Nicola worked across a variety of primary settings and also gained valuable experience within Children’s Social Care, further enhancing her understanding of safeguarding, family support and multi-agency working. Most recently, she successfully completed the National Award for SEN Co-ordination with Merit.

Throughout her career, Nicola has championed high expectations, evidence-informed practice and inclusive education. She is deeply committed to ensuring every child feels safe, valued and supported to succeed.

I know that parents and carers will join me in congratulating Nicola on this well-deserved appointment. We are excited about the future of Belmont Primary under her leadership and look forward to the next chapter in the school’s continued development.
